Working Smart

Last night we hosted the second of our Riposte Presents events where we discussed the art of working smart: starting, running and developing a successful business. We were joined by a brilliant panel of speakers including Rhonda Drakeford of Darkroom, Pip Black and Joan Murphy of Frame and Anna Murray of Patternity. We kicked off by looking at when and how each business started - ironically they all launched in 2009, just after the financial crash. This didn't impact though and they've all grown steadily into successful endeavours.

We went on to discuss strategy, collaborations, dealing with competition, managing staff, mentors, failure, good business books and the key lessons our panel had learned from running their own businesses. The audience joined in the discussion to ask about selling online, the importance of partners and a good cashflow! Riposte Presents returns next month and audio from Working Smart will be online from next week.
