Riposte Presents...
The Future of Fashion
Panel Debate

28th January 2016

Last night we launched our new monthly event series, Riposte Presents... with a panel debate looking at the future of fashion. The brilliant panel consisted of Mandi Lennard, Creative Consultant & founder of Mandi's Basement; Alice Casely-Hayford, Fashion Editor of Refinery 29; Margot Bowman, Creative Director of Auria and Zowie Broach, Head of Fashion at the RCA, the debate was moderated by writer Leanne Cloudsdale. The panel started with an overall prognosis of the industry and moved on to discuss education, sustainability, the pressure on designers, the sustainability of the current show cycle, support for young designers, how tech will influence the industry in the future and who the panel believed to be the biggest innovators.

We tried to cover as much as possible in the time, but given the magnitude of the topic there was inevitably some areas which weren't discussed. We opened the discussion up to the floor and one of the audience members asked a brilliant question about the impact of emerging fashion industries from other territories on the established western system. The expert panel brought up super insightful and thought provoking points. In the meantime here are some shots of the evening. We'll be hosting a monthly event at the Town Hall Hotel throughout the year looking at a range of different topics and showcasing brilliant women.

You can follow the Riposte Presents events live via our Twitter using the hashtag #RipostePresents. Look out for the next one as we host one a month!
