Life Lessons

ESSAY from Issue #4

everyday activism.jpg

So often we are fed stories by the media about the whippersnappers set to take the creative world by storm. And yeah, it's great to hear their ideas and what they are setting out to achieve—but what about the fantastic people whose lengthy careers have already impacted the culture we live in? We speak to six women who have lived in full colour.

They worked themselves to the bone in order to fulfil the dreams they had before the up-and-comers were even born. They include Viv Albertine of The Slits, writer Alice Rawsthorn, model Jackie O’Shaughnessy, Pauline Black of The Selecter, fashion icon Diane Pernet and photographer Jill Furmanovsky. Order issue #4 here.
