Ideas: Erotic Possibilities

How do you define sex in the 21st century? “We live in a world where there is more and more information and less and less meaning” declared philosopher and sociologist Jean Baudrillard in 1981. In 2017 the outlook isn’t looking much better, and nowhere in contemporary society is the overload of information and lack of substance clearer than in our attitudes towards sex.

Sex and society have a complex history, but in an increasingly crowded market where the definitions of sex and sexuality seem to be continually shifting the commodification and commercialization of copulation is rife, and more multifaceted than ever. Erotic Possibilities, a series of panel talks, seeks to answer the question of what sex and sexuality mean to us “in a world where sex and physical action is evolving to become more and more divided”.

The series of talks might just be what you need to spice up your Sunday, bringing together practitioners from all over the world who have, in one way or another, benefitted professionally from sex and sexuality. Exploring everything from sex and the digital world, music, publishing, activism, fashion, celebrity, photography, there’s something for everyone. The extensive and intensive event will leave no area unexplored; we’re certain it’s going to be a stimulating education.
